MARUEI TAKEO: INDIGO TOKUSA PATTERN TEA SET

The tokusa (十草) pattern is a centuries old pattern often used in Japanese art and crafts. The vertical lines represent a Japanese plant by the same name (but different kanji, 木賊), otherwise known as the scouring rush in English.

A “meoto” in Japan is a pair of items meant for a couple, usually referring to a married couple by tradition. This meoto set features an indigo tokusa pattern, which represents the grass by the same name. Known as the scouring rush in English, the grass is represented by vertical lines, and is featured throughout Japanese art and crafts.
